Vecinos/Neighbors comes from the Germanic root words "near and dwellers". Ironically, the term has greater significance in modern times, because people do indeed live closer together than they did in former agrarian societies. The name 'Avalon' comes from an area in the southwest of England rich in mythology and ancient history, called the Isle of Avalon --- England's "holyest earthe".

In Costa Rica, the term Avalon has become synonymous with three ambitious condominium developments in Santa Ana just west of the capital San Jose - Avalon Santa Ana, Avalon Country Club and Avalon River Park.

The "raison d'etre" then for Vecinos de Avalon is to unite neighbors who share common goals and aspirations and to build a sense of fellowship and trust among residents and owners that encourages the very highest level of neighborliness and cooperation. Fundamentally, we share only a common housing arrangement, but a higher purpose is to foster all that is possible in a cooperative association so that our community experience will blossom into one of life's true accomplishments. In short we want our Avalon homes to be all that they can be.
